The Mask Maker - Venice, Italy
2012
In Venice’s Castello district, I stumbled upon Ca’ del Sol, a mask shop alive with color, music, and creativity. There I met Hamid, an Iranian-born architect turned master maskmaker who has devoted his life to this ancient Venetian art. His vibrant workshop offered a rare glimpse into the heart of tradition, blending centuries-old craft with contemporary imagination. Generous and passionate, Hamid welcomed me into a world where history and artistry dance together. Ca’ del Sol is more than a shop—it is his devotion, his family, and his art. These photographs honor that encounter and the timeless magic of masks.
