Duende - The Power of Flamenco

2012 - 2018

For over 25 years, Vancouver’s Kino Café was home to flamenco, filling the small stage with rhythm, passion, and raw expression. I had been an audience member since the 1990s, but in 2012 I arrived with my camera and began photographing the dancers and musicians. Over the next several years, I discovered that flamenco is more than performance—it is a mystical experience passed down through generations, alive with Duende, the spirit of deep expression. These images reflect not only the strength and beauty of the dance but also its power to awaken freedom, resilience, and the joy of being fully alive.
